Avola
The original name of the community of Avola was Stillwater Flats.
The construction of the Canadian Northern Railway brought a post office to the community in 1913. Due to the fact that there already was a Stillwater post office elsewhere in BC the name was changed to AVOLA, chosen from the name of a town in Sicily..
